A Gathering of Fibers retails New Zealand and Australia products for all Spinners, Knitters, Weavers, Felters and Fiber Artists.
Owned and operated by Kristien Dreckow, a New Zealand fiberholic living in the USA.
I lived in Alexandra, Central Otago and spent a large part of my childhood at Matangi Station, Little Valley Alexandra. Being immersed in the wool industry at an early age I learnt about the different quality, structure and benefits of wool. I now live in Alaska, USA and import top quality New Zealand, Australia products for the fiber artist.

Every two years I return to New Zealand to keep myself updated with products from Marnie Kelly at Touch Yarns Alexandra, attend workshops and research for new top quality innovative wool products from New Zealand and Australia.
While in New Zealand and Australia, I visit my immediate family and friends. During September and October shearing takes place in New Zealand and I visit my cousins at Matangi, Fruitlands and Little Valley Station for fine micron Merino fleeces. Little Valley Station was awarded the 2006 New Zealand finest Merino Fleece. Fiber Arts is my passion and immersing myself in fiber, color, yarn and sharing with other fiberholics is enriching.
For three years before my mother (Florence) passed away, Mum would try to encourage me to bring New Zealand Merino fleece, fibers and Touch Yarns to Alaska. Mum's childhood and recent memories were of Matangi sheep station, she was a beautiful spinner, knitter, quilter and esquistie embroider. My mother passed away on January 2006, and in April 2006 I decided to establish A Gathering of Fibers in dedication to Mum.
This website is in celebration for my mother's life - Florence Dreckow. Thank you and I Love you Mum. |
